"Here, Italian law rules, not American law or any other law," he said.>>>>

Well, he does have a point there. Although, being tried in absentia with court appointed attorney's would have to give one pause on the matter of a fair trial. -

According to Italian investigators, the CIA operatives failed to cover their tracks as several of them gabbed on unsecured cellphones, showed their passports to hotel desk clerks and went on vacation in Italian resorts after the kidnapping.
I guess they won't be taking any more vacations in Italy any time soon. -

I find this very sad.

These agents, the Air Force Col. They were acting under orders, from a Commander in Chief. If anyone is guilty it is the person who issues the orders. Those who follow those orders are liable for their actions, but not at the same level as those who ordered it.
It seems to me, it was more of a show of contempt of America's failing moral superiority, than an actual trial of the guilty parties.
They are more than welcome to come over here and try to take them. They will receive from me, and those like me a very different type of welcome than they expect.
Ya don't like what the people did, fine stop it in your country. Don't come over to mine and think you are going to extract my fellow citizens without a fight !!!!!!
Just as we were wrong to go to Iraq with the idea of settling their problems, any country coming over here to settle our problems is going to be met with armed resistance !!!-

Your country right or wrong is what your saying. How about if they did the very same tactics as the CIA used and did grab them, would you support going to war? What they did was wrong and illegal, hopefully they do travel abroad and get picked up, your on the wrong side of this one cowboy.

I don't think Italians expect to come over here and collect those guys. But I agree to a large degree with your comment regarding following orders, if these guys are guilty, the people who gave the orders are CERTAINLY guilty. I think that is more or less the point. I'm not so sure about CIA agents following orders that involve crimes against humanity. Can we make the argument that German soldiers were innocent of any wrongdoing because after all they were merely following orders?

It's sad that this had to happen. But it's not surprising. The Bush administration had no regard for the laws of the United States or any other country.

I am ashamed that the great country of ours resorted to torture and kidnapping of people that they had little or no evidence of terrorism. The fact that we resorted to terrorist actions is disgraceful. -

Ah, but you have not been following the news, Eryanwi. It turns out that your wrath is misplaced - America is doing much of the world's torture today, or, as they did with manufacturing jobs, outsourcing to third-world countries.

Obviously, you believe torture should be repaid with torture. OK. Let's start with these 23. Shall we hunt them down, rape them with broken bottles? Rape their children in front of them, perhaps, and boil them alive? See how many appendages we can slowly sever from them before they die? As a demonstration of our moral superiority, perhaps?
