FTA: So thanks, Mr. President, but trust me: It's been a year, and we're over it. Go back to the office, forward your Daily Show bookings to Joe Biden (who's way funnier anyway), and come out when you want to be a real Commander-in-Chief. I promise that the culture that elected you will be here when you return — and all the stronger for you having shown it who's in charge.

The article is mostly critical of Obama, yet read the last sentence in the quote. Who is it he is supposed to show them is in charge? LOL I tend to believe that none of them can learn from experience. Folks, we are in trouble in this country. -

Obama was never, nor is he now, a celebrity. The Democrats brought us a woman and a man of color last year. It was a time when the Republicans were in deep trouble over war, deficits, and economic fallacies. At a time when the economy had dropped into the pits, none of McCain or Obama or MSM would discuss it during the campaign, while the two candidates rushed to the Senate to vote for TARP, showing there was no philosophical difference between them. Obama won simply as a public reaction to the mess at hand, saying nothing more than "Change". Most people had no clue what he meant, nor that he was really about pushing the forces of collectivism.

There never was anything to celebrate, and much less today. The only somewhat good thing was that at last sex and color were ignored sufficiently to bring that "change" after all these years. But it wasn't "for" any candidate, it was "against" the the past. Most unfortunate indeed.-

Barrack Hussein Obama:
Reply
keynote speaker, dem convention 2004.
State senator;
US senator.
Author of best-selling autobiography.
Grammy winner.
In 2008 he gave speeches within and outside the US
that broke all records for a challenger.
His acceptance speech for the nomination
was viewed by 38 million people worldwide.
His inaugural was best viewed by satelite to catch the crowds.
In a year of economic horror and incredible political invective,
he retains his supportive base and the approval even of those
who disagree with him.
But he is no celebrity.
He is a leader.
Not a bad choice to get the job done; he will do nicely.

When there are entire "news" bureaus devoted to smearing Obama based on everything down to the type of mustard he puts on a freaking hamburger, then you know cons are desperate and Obama should keep doing exactly what he's doing. Bush went around the world forcing his attentions on world leaders, acting like a clown, and generally being a nuisance and poorly educated cons need to just BITE something hard and keep their lying weasel mouths SHUT. ;-P

This is going to sound critical; but I think it will because I think Prez O's backers have built him up in their minds beyond reasonable expectations.

You know, for some time after the election Prez O's backers were telling Repubs on Propeller "Get over it. We won." I've no problem accepting that. One has elections to make a choice; and if you want to follow the rules, you go with that choice.
But I just wish that, having won already, that he'd now stop running. Every speech during the heath care reform phase was a recycled campaign speech. And when you consider that campaign speeches grow old after two days, this whole thing was difficult to listen to.
Prez O is a decent, affable, and capable man. But there are literally millions of those out there (I've worked for some myself); and these qualities are far from unique.
Our system of primaries is not designed to reward those who have capably served the public ; it's more designed to reward those who can campaign well over a stretch of maybe a year. Human nature being what it is, there's a temptation to believe that this is the essence of office. I don't expect Prez O to be a dictator - nor do I want him to be-- but I do wish he'd get on with governing already. -

Tasine throws his books in his locker
Reply
as the high school hallway fills up behind him.
"Oooh, there he is!" shouts a girl's voice.
Tasine quickly smooths his hair and turns with a bright
smile. It's two cheerleaders, and they are waving!
- but not at Tasine.
Barry O, the captain of the football team, President of
the Student Council, head of the debating team, is striding
down the hall laughing with the editor of the
school newspaper about someday winnng a nobel prize.
Tasine turns back to his locker, retrieving his American
history textbook. He slams the locker door shut,
- so hard you can hear it all the way down to the cafeteria.
