The Anatomy and Dissection of Right Wing Propaganda – The Michelle Obama Edition »
Posted By mesodude 4 weeks ago in Political OpinionWe are now at the website of Canada Free Press. “Canada” “Free” “Press.” Sounds like it’s an objective, maybe a little left-leaning newspaper. There’s a nice red maple leaf on the top of the page, but things rapidly begin to take a strange turn. Next to our happy maple leaf is a countdown clock ticking off the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the end of Obama’s term. Below that is an ad with praying hands that says “A Prayer for our Time – Deliver us from Obama.” “Obama” replaces the word ”evil” in this snippet of the Lord’s Prayer. Suddenly it’s not looking much like an objective news source any more.

That's pretty bad. The only thing worse than that would be propaganda floating through the school system.

Thanks, Hhussk...But all you do here is give an example of what you *feel* is propaganda (probably because you simply choose not to believe it). My story submission carefully explains why the Michelle Obama story qualifies as right wing propaganda. See the distinction?

Again, this is only propaganda in *your opinion*. Because you like Michelle Malkin and agree with everything she thinks doesn't mean it's true or meets the criteria of propaganda. That's two posts in a row so far in which you've failed to demonstrate that you even grasp the *concept* of propaganda.

Here's a kids music video, praising a man who hasn't actually accomplished anything, but suggesting that he's going to "spread happiness". Propaganda using children.

The article is correct is that it unfairly paints a poor picture of Michelle Obama. However, she could have set an example during an economic downturn, and chose not to do so. Moreover, it is ridiculous for a private citizen to be staffed so well by the U.S. taxpayer. This was not intended and is a waste of my tax dollars, regardless of the person holding the First Lady title.

Here's a video of propaganda where members of an elite class try to convince you to "serve the president". TV actors involved in propaganda.

Here's an interesting article where the government begins propagandizing against a news company in an attempt to bring them down.

This propaganda is interesting, because it uses an ally, masking it as an agenda for the country. The propaganda machine attempts to put all the members in white labs coats to make the appearance look more legitimate.

Please take notice that the current Canadaian government is allied to the right wing agenda. The conservatives are in power, luckily in a minority government. There are a number of people in Canada who are mislead and blindly believed that the right wing policies are the way to go. Simply in the same situation as in USA 10 years ago.

This blog reminds of a propagandizing move to spend a large sum of money, by using a scare tactic of "greater unemployment".

At the time, the propaganda machine was saying that if we let them spend the money as they choose, unemployment would stay below 8%. Well, it's now 9.8%. -

I used to think the internet was a great way to spread news without relying on the MSM. But now I'm seeing so much made up nonsense to justify any position that people have. Sources are never checked, there's no accountability for anything. People are believing is some really wild stories simply because someone wrote down something that someone else wants to believe.
Just look at the nutcases posting things about school children being forced to sing praises about Obama?
Great post.-

Hence the "echo chamber" -Gop or industry funds a blog, someone rants a ludicrous position.then a host of other blogs quote it, then politicians quote it, it even gets reported by MSM these days. Then the talking heads repeat it...by this time it appears legitimate to the less discerning citizen.

This propaganda is one of "imaginary numbers". The listener, or reader, is led to believe one set of numbers, but as numbers become scrutinized, we learn of a different set of numbers.
Reply
And finally, when no one is paying attention, we go back to the explosive set of numbers to make a situation look worse and propagandize the plan.

When an outrageous claim is made by those on the far right and is suspected of being fabricated or a complete lie, it usually is. Just a little time invested on researching the claim and you can almost always prove it was a fraud.
It takes people with the same mind warp to gobble up any negative story about those they dislike and not check it's veracity. They wanted to believe it, so, it must be true. -

"The Anatomy and Dissection of Right Wing Propaganda"
I was just putting up links to propaganda that was extremely pervasive within the last 12 months.
Hard to believe, eh? All those links cover only 12 months.
But anyhow, YES, I'm also against right-wing propaganda. I dislike seeing skewed numbers and stats in articles. It helps no one. I also dislike unecessary attacks on the First Lady since she is not an elected official.
The article linked to this thread is definately propaganda. It is wrong, misleading, and basically just an advertisement for some crappy company trying to make a buck on anti-Obama sentiment.
I think that it would be a good thing if right-wingers spoke out against this type of misleading drivel; it does not support their agenda to point to, and use, information that is incorrect.
Thank you, mesodude, for posting this link and creating this thread. My only hope is that it doesn't backfire in any way by giving the fringe elements a new resource to use. I'm sure the people who seriously want to debate and argue over actual issues want nothing to do with propaganda stories and political opinions that are based on personal attacks.
Well done. -

--You're welcome...I guess. But excuse me if I can't help feeling like Charlie Brown to your Lucy at the moment. I agree that propaganda is wrong (left or right) but I don't think we can always agree as to what qualifies as propaganda. The Michelle Obama story was just a lie. Similarly, false reports on Obama's inauguration costs (that he spent more than Bush did) were published by the right wing media and immediately taken as fact by many posters here. If you find something that you think is left wing propaganda, I'm happy to debate it with you but I don't want to debate people who are simply looking for reasons to slam Obama. It should go without saying that if you're going to slam Obama, you should be prepared to explain why what you're slamming him over now was ok with you when it was being done by someone on the right. -

It appears that Hhussk has been chosen as the flag bearer for the neo-cons this week (or will it be a monthly appointment?). To save coming back for another comment I'll do a pre-emptive strike. To the odd hominen (that's intentional) hawkers I'll say "SO what?". Sometimes it's just not worth the time and effort to debunk your posts when it's so much easier and less time consuming to say "That's stupid".

Take a step back, remove all of the malicious intentions that you seem to be expecting out of me, and read as statements rather than trying to read more in to what I say than I put there please. I was trying to make a more appropriate annoy than the one you had based on location in the world as well as brutality. Reacting with malice to everyone will not get one very far.

Two comments on this. First, the author ended by saying "Kinda makes you want to send something back up that email chain, doesn’t it?" Personally I do so every time that I receive paranoid or incorrect information. This is likely why people I know don't send me such things anymore; well aside form my father who doesn't seem to get the idea of research anymore.

Also, that was written to someone else, unless you have multiple accounts, and was in reference to the person getting ****** that I was agreeing with what they were saying.

Any malicious intent to my words were intended this time as you spammed this posting with a good 15 other articles that you some how think are related to start off with.
Have an original thought for yourself. maybe get a life as you seem to know plenty about what everyone here has said but can't seem to relate any real life examples to support your stance. -

"Let me preface this by saying that the person who sent the email, as well as several in the long chain of forwards, is intelligent, and caring and can hold a conversation. He loves his country and his family, and he’s a pretty great guy. He has a sense that something is terribly wrong with the country, like many people do, but he is not a “wingnut” and neither are the others I know in this chain who forwarded this email along. He also has access to a computer, and presumably knows the basics of how to do basic Google searches. Basically, he’s a lot like many people we know and like."
--I realize the writer is trying to be earnest and open-minded but why should people of voting age (who are lazy and don't do their homework before jumping to conclusions) be given a pass simply because they "have a sense that something is terribly wrong with the country"? What's "intelligent" about reading something that sounds outrageous and then accepting it at face value simply because someone who thinks the way you do sent it to you?-

I just don't understand how someone could read the title of this story and then either not know or not care that they were posing the very type of question which motivates people to accuse them of being ignorant.
