pc - The AARP and the American Medical Association both came out in favor of the Democratic version of the health care reform. Both organizations are notoriously conservative and protective of their members' rights.

The AMA is the largest and most inclusive of all the medical associations in the country. It has a healthy lobbying presence in our congress. The AARP represents a voting bloc that has the highest voting percentage of any demographic in the country.

Obviously these 2 groups would want the maximum number of their members protected with insurance and preserve their financial status. They are not fooled by all the Republican propaganda about death squads and the financial ruin of insurance companies. As a matter of fact, the AARP is also a robust seller of insurance policies.

Face it. The Republicans are selling images, misunderstanding, and lies. Those who really know and who would be significantly affected are for the Democratic bill.
