Washington voters have recognized that gays and lesbians deserve equality. Although they have not reached full equality, none of the States will have granted full equality to their gay and lesbian citizens until the Federal government recognizes their marriages as valid. Marriage is a civil institution, and as long as the government has its claws in it, then they must protect all the people, not just the chosen few.
