Have you ever been in Europe for a certain length of time (not just a couple of days)??
Because the US (to live in) is great if you either make a lot of money or work for a MAJOR company with it's own good insurance system.
Also, usually, when (and as long) you are young and/or healthy and don't have an accident, you don't think about what MIGHT happen, and only see the (relativaly) bigger cash, until the day .......
Don't forget also, that a lot of Europeans living in the US, do often work for European companies, and receive European contracts that include our social safety net and other benefits.
There are also a lot of Americans(US) working in Europe (I know some of them) and they tend to try to have the US salary, but with the European benefits such as, social net, health care, min of 4 weeks paid vacation (by law, not by contract), ....etc.
When they return to the US, they, usually, do miss the European system
