Outstanding article. The author has the GOP figured to a "T". The GOP has become saturated with fringe lunatics and radical neocon fools. Just leave 'em be! They are eating their own from the inside out. It is a great spectator sport to see them self destruct. LOVE IT

Well I live in NY State and spent the whole day yesterday driving truck through the 23rd making deliveries. I listened to the local radio to find out what was on the minds of the people. I learned a few things:

The people in the 23rd resented the outsiders coming into their district and picking their candidate for them.
Most thought that Dee Dee Scozzafava was the perfect candidate. They are fiscally conservative people but socially moderate.
Due to the problems above voter turnout was estimated to be around 30% which is very low. They said the lowest up there in quite some time.
These people are not some hillbillies who will gobble up the rights pablum. SUNY Potsdam is in the 23rd. Tonight Saturday 11/07/2009 Sweet Honey in The Rock is performing there.
If the right wants to win elections they need to do their homework instead of just putting right wing ideologues in.
