U.S. Muslims Fear Backlash After Attack »
Posted By TimALoftis 1 week, 6 days ago in ReligionAs word spread that a gunman had opened fire at Fort Hood leaving a trail of carnage, a chilling realization swept across the U.S. Muslim community: He has an Islamic name.
From a professor who just testified in Congress, to a White House adviser appearing before a Jewish group and a former Marine driving home from work, Muslims across the country were shocked, angry and afraid that the attack would erode efforts to erase anti-Islamic stereotypes.
Many Islamic leaders said the Fort Hood tragedy that left 13 dead and 30 wounded including the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, could likely post the sternest test for U.S. Muslims since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Interesting that this would be their primary concern as opposed to identifying and exposing those within their midst who would perpetrate such attacks.-

How are they to know who is going to do something crazy anymore than some one else, don't talk so foolishly. How often have the media had some neighbor or coworker of a nut job say they just didn't seem right? If your rounded up all the wing nuts that would be half the country. The article said he had already mentioned being troubled about his pending tour in Afghanistan, it seems to me the people there would of been better suited to see this coming than anyone else.

What an idiotic comment. What is anyone doing to identify and expose the kids or adults who grab guns and go on a rampage...nothing, because you many times never know. Well, i guess i am going to have to label Avoth a racist now. Just my opinion of course but i do call em as i see em. -

The purpose of the operation was to "erode efforts to erase anti-Islamic stereotypes." Practically every shill on the Internet is using the atrocity as a pretext for spewing the grossest anti-Islamic stereotypes imaginable.

'Three people are involved. That, by definition, means it is a conspiracy.'
•Curiouser and Curiouser: -Video surfaces of alleged shooter, Major Nidal Hasan, attending Homeland Security Task Force conference --Major Hasan's name appears on page 29 of The George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute's 'Thinking Anew—Security Priorities for the Next Administration' --Proceedings Report of the HSPI Presidential Transition Task Force - April 2008 - January 2009. Just lasts night I had a customer try to start a fight with some other customers in my bar. His reasoning "they are Muslims". this idiot who "claims" to be in the Air Force/Marines who "served" in Iraq and Afghanistan, cant seem to be able to tell an Indian/Hindu from an Arab. He also tried to do the same with my White American doorman. The fool should have looked around. Because he would have seen several members of the USMC and U.S. Army Along with several bouncers from other clubs getting ready to take him down. Luckily we were able to put him in a cab before he got hurt.

So yes many people not just Muslims are afraid of these stereotypes coming forth, Especially from people who are clueless. -

You know avoth, with every posting you make, you are proving more and more that no matter what your "opposition" does will garner a negative response from you. No matter what anyone you disagree with does or says, it's never enough for you to just sit back and keep your mouth shut if you can't bring yourself to utter a compliment when one is due.

You even criticize the Muslim community for denouncing this act because you think they should do something more or different or whatever. Well, at least they have come forward to denounce the tragedy and set themselves apart from the ideology that drove it. How many Christian organizations have ever come out to denounce similar terrorist attacks committed by Christian extremists in the name of God?

The same can be said about the military, they know who the wackoes are but still hand them a gun and hope they point it the right way. When it is not possible to predict what someone in your own family will do how can you say what someone who shares the same religion is going to do? After reading both your comment and Avoth's I think the Muslim community has every right to worry.

How did you become such an authority on the Muslim community in America? If you are an expert, be proud and use your real name. And why not mention the vastly greater number of Christian extremists in the military?

Read "Jesus killed Mohammed: The crusade for a Christian military," by Jeff Sharlet. http://harpers.org/archive/2009/05/0082488 Besides being more numerous, the Christian extremists are far stupider on the average, as you will discover.
