If Either party really wanted health care...they would have brought the vote to the several states. The outcome of the vote, with a 220-215 margin...does not reflect the 3/4 vote that was necessary in 1791 to ratify legislation. The policy of redistricting does not work.

"refuted rather than the concurring." With time...the conclusions will always end as the refuted "chaos", and maintennence requirements high. -

As soon as this goes through, I'm going to put in for any and all federal subsidies for insurance that I can get. And then use the HELL out of that public option by seeing the doctor for every little thing I can think of that might or might not be wrong with me. The faster this blows the projected budgets and bankrupts the government coffers, the better. We know it's going to happen anyway, so I might as well get my money's worth out of it.

"To avoid increasing the deficit, Democrats would pay for the coverage expansion by... imposing a variety of new taxes, primarily a 5.4 percent surcharge on annual income over $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for families. Initially, the tax would hit only 0.3 percent of taxpayers, but that number would climb rapidly, because the income thresholds would not be indexed to inflation."

"Among the toughest issues: whether the public option should include an "opt out" clause for states, as Reid has proposed"
Reply
Will this mean the citizens of an "opt out" state will not be subject to the bill's requirements or any of it's taxes? One single state opts out and I know where I'm moving to. That state will become a tax shelter for our nations wealthiest. -

"If you think the Republicans are not going to go after you if you vote no," the president said, according to several people present, "think again."

I'll stand on the highest mountain and shout out at the top of my lungs absolute praise and admiration for any Demacrat who votes against this. I'll express my undying adoration till the end of time. Sorry Mr. Pres. -

This bill could be acceptable to me. It's a compromise, but we all knew going in that it would be. Single payer would be better for small business because small businesses would pay for it based on profits rather than number of employees.

This is $1.05 trillion over 10 years or about $100 billion per year. Since the uninsured use emergency rooms as their primary care and care for these people is a tax burden to the states, the reduction in cost should be massive. About 19% of your premiums are used to cover the hospital bill of the uninsured.
Reply
The savings should be based on that about $490 billion dollars per year in premiums plus what the states must lay out for care
Just the premium savings should be $4.9 trillion over 10 years.
Americans should be happy about this -

One little correction, Engineer. Virtually everyone uses the ER for primary care a one time or another - Itis very nice to have a personnal primary care physician if you can afford one or if you have insurance - but what happens when it is not for elective treatment such as a check up scheduled weeks in advance?
What do you do when you are actually sick at 4 AM or on a weekend or holiday? - Who do you call? Not your primary - the days of the GP coming to you carrying his little black bag are long gone -- Ypu call an ambulance or a cab or have someone drive you to the ER, because that is your only choice in today's world, rich or poor, insured or not
