There is no way to actually predict someone will commit a heinous crime. My concern is that, if we start all becoming profilers, it will turn into a witch-hunt that trounces on rights and turns us into a totalitarian country that feeds paranoia and distrust.

Many people are obsessive. We give them awards if their focus is their job and they work inhuman amounts of overtime or it's neatness and they keep an immaculate home. But if it's focused on an ideology that lends itself to extremism, which could be any religious, political, or cultural belief, there is probably a somewhat higher chance of something like this occurring.
Even so, it's rare, and I am concerned by anything that undercuts freedom on the chance of stopping a statistically rare event.
Imagine a man living in a country with religious freedom, where women are not forced and generally do not choose to dress in fundamentalist religious garb or act according to extremist beliefs.
And the attempt to blame others for taunting him doesn't hold water, either. I've been taunted for being an atheist and being a female in a traditionally male job for most of my adult life, and I just think they are ignorant. I have no intention of doing them any harm.
He showed signs of religious extremism, but Fred Phelps, James Dodson, all the FLDS members, and a lot of other people would be on mental health watch if that was something that could dependably predict violent outcomes.-

So your saying that we shouldn't be watching groups that spew hate speech against the USA? This guy attended the same Mosque that two of the 9/11 hijackers went too. Don't you think that there is something wrong with this mosque that we should look into?

It's exactly your stupid Liberal attitude that lead to this shooting. Oh no, we can't profile cuz that would be baaadddd.... you know what's bad is when we don't profile and terrorists acts like this happen. If there is a Christian terrorists group then watch them. But that just isn't happening. We have had multiple terrorists plots and actions against us from our own country which almost all were started by Muslims.
If 98% of the terrorist plots are started by Muslims then why wouldn't you investigate it? It makes no sense. Your more worried about hurting peoples feelings than protecting the people. That is exactly why we will have another attack which you will defend again.
