"It is, perhaps, a matter of "faith" to say that there is no god."

OK, using this logic, it would also be a matter of faith to say there are no unicorns, no Santa Claus, no Tooth Fairy, and no Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I say the evidence is stronger than "a matter of faith" that neither a magical male uber-being named "God" nor any of those entities listed above exist. Since there is no evidence for any of them other than folk tales and contrived fiction.

It is a matter of faith because there is no evidence to say that there isn't a god. To be fair, there is also no evidence to suggest that there is a god. Either point is logically valid.

As for Santa Claus et al, there is ample evidence that such things do not exist. Therefore, it is not logically valid to say that such a thing DOES exist.

"There is no logically valid argument for "there is a god" that I've ever seen. People passionately talk about practices that religions cling to, but that doesn't make them religious. There are workable practices that have nothing to do with religion or a god, goddess, totem, etc. that have been coopted by religions. I'm sure ancients just added new understandings to their bags of tricks that were based partially on folklore and their own efforts to understand the mysterious.

So, although a vast majority of people have been enculturated to "believe" in a deity, there is still no logically valid argument for one.

If you want to argue that "belief" itself is a potent tool, that can afford positive outcomes, then I can buy that. There IS logically valid argument for the efficacy of belief.
