Despite the military's promises of upward mobility, unexpected hardships pushes many vets into a devastating downard spiral. For some, being back home doesn't mean having one. The Washington Post reports that, according to federal data, “Roughly 131,000 of the nation's 24 million veterans may be homeless on any given night, and about twice as many are homeless each year.”

Poor guys. Come home with no where to work or live. This is the same America that we had after Vietnam where the troops are treated as political tools and forgotten when it come to taking care of them.

Of course if Bush was president then people would be talking about this but since Obama is president then we can't shame him for doing nothing about this situation. And we thought all the protesters cared about the troops.

All they care about is gaining political points and now that Obama is president the troops are now forgotten souls.

Excuse me ... the Iraq and Afghanistan troops have been forgotten since Bush STARTED those wars!

I posted stories on Propeller for several years, especially from www.vawatchdog.org, about the plight of veterans - wounded, not getting any care or getting substandard care, becoming estranged from their families, bankrupt, homeless, and more.

The Bush administration did NOTHING. Remember the Walter Reed scandal? What has really been accomplished since then? Not much.

Same with the PTSD and suicide rates.

Now, I am expressing disappointment that the Obama administration is not moving fast enough to start resolving these LONG-STANDING issues with veterans.

But Obama has been in office less than 1 year. Bush had 5 years to do something ....
