    The worst disappointment was the 2000 election in which SCOTUS elected Bush as president. It was all down hill after that and closer to the edge of the cliff.

      Have to agree about Y2K. On our moderately-sized chemical plant we spent something like $1.5 mil to laboriously examine and reprogram stuff. Sat up in our offices all night on Dec. 31 waiting for the end of the world. Which never came. Gave end of the world scenarios a bad name, if they didn't have one already.
