I am serious in saying that according
Reply
to some contemporary psycharists
Jesus Christ was Schizophrenic and
Abe Lincoln, one our greatest presidents
was manic depressive or bi-polar. My
advice: Get a second opinion before
you voluntariy commit your self to a
mental hospital. Even Jesus said do NOT
go voluntarily and He is the final
authority with me.

My fiancee' is bipolar. To say that some days, it's a wild ride is an understatement. When he and I first hooked up, I did a lot of reading on bipolar disorder, so I would know what I was dealing with. They have very high divorce rates and suicide rates, and have difficulty holding down a job. Medication doesn't always help. So many people have abandoned him because of this, but I am going into it firmly committed to doing what I can to provide him with as much stability as I possibly can.

You are the one in a million person! Being bi-polar myself, I know you have to be special, deciding to stay and help rather than run and gossip. Most people just cannot grasp the frustration of being intelligent and mentally ill at the same time.

Intellectually, I know my disease, I know my thoughts and feelings are often irrational, I can study my situation until I die... but when an episode comes on, all that goes out the window. High or low, both states can really suck but, sometimes, either one can beat the flat emptiness of the middle.
I found my one in a million 16 years ago and we are both bi-polar with a similar bad childhood, my therapist at that time said it was a recipe for disaster... yet here we are 16 years later. The one thing we have always had no matter what has been having someone to love and understand without standing in judgement and telling you to buck up... snap out of it! The road can be rough, but it is worth it if you have true love... I wish you the best of luck and love. -

My wife did the same as you. I take six meds every day to stay on track just for her and it works. I hope your fiancee love you and respects you as much as I do my wife for the sacrifice she makes for me. She literally has saved my life.
