Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh Stoking GOP Civil War »
Posted By Tumultuous 2 weeks, 3 days ago in Political OpinionIt's not easy to flip a congressional district that's been Republican since the late 1800s, but after being willingly hijacked by the right-wing media -- after getting steamrolled by Fox News' embrace of third-party candidate Doug Hoffman -- Republicans managed to hand Upstate New York's 23rd District to Democrats last week. And they did it just in time for the newly elected Democrat to help (barely) push health care reform through the House of Representatives during Saturday night's historic vote.
Doug Hoffman was, first and foremost, a media candidate (a media creation), which means we are entering a very new and different realm in American politics. We're entering a sort of Fox News Era where media outlets -- where alleged news organizations -- essentially co-sponsor political campaigns. We've moved well beyond the time when Fox News, for instance, leaned right and gave conservative candidates more air-time and tossed them lots of softball questions. We're now watching unfold a political reality where Fox News literally selects candidates and then markets them through Election Day.

The blurred line between journalism and political advocacy has been obliterated by this faux-news organization. Fox is now blatantly endorsing and promoting their own candidates and have become the unabashed political propaganda tool of the extreme right. And I hope it continues if more results like New York's 23rd District are the norm.

Where is the embarrassment and shame from these talk show hosts who prognosticate a winner and they turn out to be LOSERS? I guess that's the key, they have no shame or integrity and their conscience is non-existing.-

Pelosie tells a lie and this foolish person believed it and a lot of libs here did too.

I did not know the Civil War ended in 1993. That is when the DEMOCRAT Michael R. McNulty finished his term int the NY 23rd district. 1993 is significant since he was swept out by the first mid term election under Clinton.

This lists all of the holders of that seat going back to 1823. Democrats held it from 1923 to 1973 and from 1979 to 1993. Why do liberals continue this easily checked out lie. It undercuts the credibility of the whole story.

So you liberals think that Olbermann and Rachel are fair and unbiased.

The come across as out to get someone in any way then can. Dredge up old half stories, blame it on bush, or just scream and yell.
They do their best to promote the candidates they want, but criticize anyone else in the media who does the same thing. Hyprocrites.-

The only thing you are demonstrating is that both sides do it. Great. Does that make it ok?

Living in a world of *We are doing it because they are doing it* only seems to send us circling around the drain. What should be happening is attempting to find real answers. I am not sure that climbing from the fire to the frying pan is an answer. It is only a different way to get cooked. -

Obviously you don't watch MSNBC but there are very few on these boards who don't account for the bias preached. That is the issue with Fox and its viewers. They don't account for the bias. They claim to be "fair and balanced": when they are no such thing. They claim to speak for a large segment of America which is defined only by the vague term "conservative". Yet Glenn Beck is not conservative he is a idiotic radical. These people would have no idea of what to do if given the reigns of power. Slogans and talking points work far better in attack mode than as tools of governance. Claiming that we will follow the Constitution line by line changes nothing in the debate because it is our "interpretation" of the 1st, 2nd and 10th amendments in particular that causes much of the rancor. Those interpretations are highly unlikely to change. And arguing for a smaller federal government is only going to expand states roles in providing public services. They have proven no more effective at these tasks than the federal side. And removing any significant government services is going to have political consequences. Unless these candidates don't care about re-election that will be a significant problem. The same issues both Reagan and the Bushes discovered as they watched government grow on their watch. .

Anyone calling Glenn Beck a "mentor" is more in need of a pyschological evaluation than a term in office. I only wish you people would take a good honest look at the fools who are driving your wagon. Perhaps they are headed for that cliff in the dark but even worse they may someday succeed. That would be a very serious consequence for the future of the Republic. I would go so far as to say it would be the end of "America" as we now know her. -

Who said that? This is about how Hannity lied on his show about crowd size and use old video footage of a different event to back up his lie. Do you have an example where Maddow or Keith did something simular?

The article fails to mention the lack of real journalism in the nazi liberal main stream media. FOX News tells it like it is for both democrats and republicans. They don't soften it up or spin it to benefit the nazi liberals. The MSM could learn lots from FOX.

I pity you. A mind brainwashed by FAUX relegates you to the criminally insane. You just can't resist using the word nazi can you! You don't even know the meaning of the word. The Nazi's were much more closely aligned with the Republican/neocon ideology than to the left!

Fed up. You have used that phrase quite enough. Either they crack down on you or you can have these boards to yourself. You have proven you have no ability to make a rational debate or even a meaningful comment. You have done nothing but abuse your 1st Amendment rights. It's no wonder participation in Propeller is down with cretins like you posting here.

My friend, I owe you an apology. I believe one of the hallmarks of a true Conservative is the when they make a mistake, they acknowledge it, apologize for it, and try not to do it again.

In the past, I challenged your use of the phrase "nazi liberal". Observations and interactions with hyperbola, daylight, progressive, tchef, gamahuche, crispi, bluetexasvalley, natureboy, djn3nunez3, fsev41, urme, most especially dionys, and other liberal posters have convinced me that I was wrong to do so.
I completely apologize and ask your forgiveness.

All one needs to do is watch "News" anymore and realize that it's not News, it's more opinion than anything. Fox is the worst at it, but look at CNN, MSNBC, Headline news. They all slant to what they think that their viewers want to hear. Whatever happened to Journalistic integrity.

Play rope-a-dope with the lunatic fringe. The faux leaders of the Party-of-No will soon turn on each other and marginalize and fractionalize the former GOP so far to the right, a third party will scoop up the middle ground. Go loonies! Rock on! Everything you say is true!

I know you're out there
You're in hiding
And you hold your meetings
We can hear you coming
We know what you're after
We're wise to you this time
We won't let you kill the laughter
Heard this on the radio the other day for the first time since the 80's. Fits nicely for the lunatic fringe. On both sides mind you.
