this would be awesome. not only would it decimate the republicans. it would allow focus to be brought onto who exactly these whack jobs are and finally, fully delegitimize themselves in the public view.

the resulting vacuum would make room for a legit new party of libertarians to take off.-

It's already taking an interesting path. Palin turned against a Republican in favor of a "Constitution Party" candidate (they are beyond ultra-conservative) and the Republican ended up backing the Democrat who ended up winning in New York.

So it looks like the more extreme Republicans are possibly giving up on the Republican party and leaving it to what they call "RINOs" (generally means more moderate).
Beck is making sure the Democrats win in 2010 elections and giving Obama another term. I don't think he intends to do that, but that is the logical outcome, based on history.-

The "moderate republicans", also called "RINO's" are exactly what you guys have been attacking for several years now. They're more commonly known as "Neocons". Basically they are liberal republicans. And not saying that being a liberal is a bad thing, but they are the worst parts of both parties. They're social conservatives (Except when it comes to illegals) and fiscally liberal. It would benefit the country greatly if they either started their own party and called it what it is or were just forced out of the ones they currently occupy.

I'm not sure I agree, tang. I know a lot of fiscally conservative/socially liberal Republicans, who would more properly be Libertarians, if that was a viable party right now. But the Libertarians ran social conservative Barr and noname Root in the last election, while Ron Paul, who is more of a Libertarian (except he DOES have social conservative tendencies) ran on the Republican ticket.

The 2008 Constitution Party candidates seemed straight out of the old John Birch Society to me. The original Republicans were progressive in many respects, and they were not controlled by the religious right.
