I have to agree with the Republicans on this.

In fact, I would cut the number of years Sen. DeMint has suggested for term limits for Senators, from 12 to 8 years. Serving 6 years in the house would be fine.

"Americans know real change in Washington will never happen until we end the era of permanent politicians," DeMint said in a statement released by his office. "As long as members have the chance to spend their lives in Washington, their interests will always skew toward spending taxpayer dollars to buyoff special interests, covering over corruption in the bureaucracy, fundraising, relationship building among lobbyists, and trading favors for pork -- in short, amassing their own power."

Essentially true...how can real change come about if we keep having the same old faces in office? Mix it up...get new blood in, new ideas.

That's one way of getting change, and hopefully for the better.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Change is sometimes good.

I agree in part..New faces, new idea's,but we also lose experience in foreign policy matters that can't be replaced in six or eight years, same with military and financial issues..Up and down sides to both.

This is a joke in so many ways. If they really were sincere, they would push for campaign finance reform and more restrictions on K street lobbyists.

          this is a great idea.

to be clear the numbers they are advancing means 2 terms for the senate (12 yrs) and 3 terms for the house (6yrs).

          long overdue

I lean more toward campaign finance reform and maybe we should get the lobbyists out of the Capitol. I doubt the sincerity of these Senators because if they really wanted reform they should have introduced this Amendment when they had the power of both houses and a President. I think it's just a publicity ploy kinda like when the house passed legislation making it a felony to hire an illegal alien. They don't really want it.
