Pennsylvania - A Breinigsville man who accidentally killed his ailing mother by catching her mattress on fire after he flicked a lighter under the bed to get her cats to jump up and join her has been spared jail time. Lever told police he had just put his mother to bed and wanted her cat to join her, so he reached behind the bed and flicked a lighter to see if the cat was back there. The cat never appeared, so Lever went downstairs to look elsewhere. Before Lever reached the bottom step, his mother began yelling after the mattress had caught fire. House was unable to walk on her own.
