since the mid 70's almost every election in America has depended on the "swing voters" who don't decide until the last minute.

who are these swing voters? predominately middle aged, moderate white men. everyone one else (as a group, there are plenty of individual exceptions) tends to stick to their party allegiance.

dems: women, minorities, liberals, pacifists, unions, civil libertarians, and federalists

repubs: older white men, fiscal and social conservatives, militarists, corporatists, and anti-federalists,

the moderates see advantaqes and disadvantages on both sides, and ultimately choose based on the individual candidate.

polls can show anything you want, and are completely meaningless, esp this far out.

Good post but your making the mistake of discounting trends!
