The camel in the room »
Posted By Temlakos 1 month, 1 week ago in NewsPresident Obama appears clueless, and for that matter, nobody wants to talk about the camel in the room, which is terrorism. Major Hasan all but declared his intentions two years ago at Walter Reed Hospital, and after he did what he did, his former imam, speaking out of Yemen, gave a cheer. (And in fact, Hasan has quite a cheerleading section in the Middle East.) So why can't we call this what it is?

Not only do I not understand why they didn't kick him out of the army a long time ago, but why they chose him to go to Afghanistan. You wouldn't need to do a psychological profile on the guy to know that giving that notice would be the spark to set him off.

We have seen, recently, the amendment to the hate crimes bill to include protections for homosexuals. It's an added crime to point out a person's race or gender bias before commiting the crime of assault.

However... if you shout "Allahu akbar!" and mow down christians, you're just a poor disturbed soul suffering from pre-traumatic stress disorder!
What is this world coming to?-

Um, you're assuming that those mowed down were christians...which is pretty presumptuous. Also, did this Hasan individual cry "God is Great" when he went on his spree?
Reply
Also you seem to be assuming a verdict, that this individual will only be found to be disturbed.
That is all pretty presumptuous, don't you think?
Besides, I always thought God was supposed to be Great...regardless the language you declared that phrase in.

Terror does not even require killing. Terror is the threat of harm: a reasonable fear that you are exposed to harm. Legally, threats such as those by an estranged husband that he is coming over to kill his ex-wife qualify as terrorist (unless the perpetrator is prone to making "idle" threats, so that his threats cause no terror in anyone). Islamist terrorists score a win whenever any act of violence:

1. raises the fear of harm in a population, and
2. can be "credited" or "attributed" to them.
Wouldn't AlQaeda love to claim responsibility for the shootings at Fort Hood, and to claim the shooter as only one of their infiltrators into the very Defense forces of the USA! Now that is scary (random mass killings: not as much)! Yeah, let's stir-up that notion and give our enemies the free credit of an increase in terror, that they don't deserve. -

to think that no one is talking about terrorism or that obama is just ignoring it is just dumb.

so, really stupid premise to begin with.
and perhaps obama's strategy is to NOT give the terrorists credit publicly. and I don't know why that possibliity isn't obvious to everyone. -
