Except he didn't admit he faked anything. He said it was an "inadvertent mistake."

I liked what this commenter to the NY Times story said about that:
Talk about adding insult to injury. You cannot inadvertently splice together a video report like this and not know where you are getting your video from. Video archives at the networks are stored digitally, are stored hierarchically, are well labeled and are easily distinguished from other video files.
Someone intentionally took video from one digital archive and manually edited it in to his broadcast. He may want to suggest that he did not know about this being done. Maybe his producer wants to make the same claim. Perhaps everyone wants to pin the blame on a technician.
Then again, operating as Fox News has as the media wing of the Republican Party, perhaps they can just admit that they don’t let facts stand in the way of a good story, and that when reality doesn’t make their point, they are not afraid of changing reality to meet their agenda.
Facts matter in the end.

Did you deem this remark by Bill Clinton an honest mistake?
Reply
"That depends on what your definition of the word "is", is."
In case you don't recall what this question referred to, he had been asked if he had sex with Monica. He said "no". (His definition of sex was actual intercourse, and the vast majority of college students who were asked the if a BJ was having sex agreed with his definition.)
He was later asked "is it was not true that you lied about having sex with Monica"?
To which he responded "That depends on what your definition of the word "is", is."
Once again, was this an honest mistake? -

The most interesting aspect of this story is that before now, the left has not acknowledge that there were thousands of people at any of the Tea Parties. This last tea party was called 3 days before the actual event, so there was not as many people.
Reply
The 9/12 tea party had thousands if not close to a million attending. Thanks Jon for pointing out the large volume of people at a tea party. Until now, main stream media has overlooked the popularity.-

the most interesting aspect of this story is that hannity and fox got caught red-handed and all you cons on here (especially you with that stupid name) look like a bunch of dooshes.
and no one ever said there weren't thousands of people at the teabagger parties. but there's a BIG diff between the 40,000 number michelle bachman pulled out of her butt and the (generous) 10,000 quoted by the washington post that they got from officials on the scene.
and WAKE UP.
the 9/12 teabagger didn't have anywhere near a million people.
how do I know? I saw the footage on hannity a few nights ago, when hannity showed the 9/12 video saying it was the bachman teabagger gathering and claiming it was 40,000 people.
so...not only did hannity get caught lying, he also admitted that there were only about 40,000 people at the 9/12 party.
THAT'S how badly hannity screwed the pooch on this one.
and THAT'S how big of a doosh you and all the other people are still trying to claim a million people were there when there obviously was no where near that many.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Wrong.

It was ALWAYS said there were "tens of thousands" at Glenn Beck's "tea party" rally by the main stream media. It was the right who kept claiming there was "1.7 million" at the rally that has been contested.

It's nice to see that you finally admit that the "tens of thousands" estimate is right though. I guess we can call that progress. -

FTA: Wednesday night Mr. Hannity admitted that “we screwed up” in using the “incorrect video.” He called it “an inadvertent mistake.”

If that was an apology, I'm an alien from Alpha Centauri. He used that video to bolster his claim of crowd size. How was that an inadvertent mistake? -

How dumb can you be? Just because your base will believe anything you do and say, doesn't make it right for these guys to continue using other Americans in such deceitful ways - even if they are Republicans. I'm outraged and will continue to fight for right. Stamp out Conservative deceit - it's causing them to no longer know what truth is. How sad, made a fool of by your own.

People who represent Fringe groups seem to always inflate their numbers. This was just one of the most blatant attempts.Usually they just don't show wide camera views that show how small these crowds are.During last years campaign MCcain and Palin would get angry at News coverage that showed empty seats or how small a venue was.Fox likes to claim they represent a majority of Americans views. That is hard to pull off if your events look like a Milli Vanilli reunion concert.

In this day of fact checking, the internet and various other sources it's amazing that they even try to lie. It's good someone is finally stepping in and saying enough is enough. Maybe, just maybe this will bring about a little bit more in the way of journalistic integrity. Hopefully all networks will pause before lying.
