Pelosi: Jailing people who don’t buy health insurance is“fair” »
Posted By bigurn 1 week, 4 days ago in Political NewsA snippet of an interview where the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, goes on record about people who fail to purchase mandatory health insurance under a public plan.
So, our government wants us to live with inferior health care, and to be jailed if we refuse to participate. In other words, she's advocating making a free personal choice a crime.

There is nothing fair about Force, we must resist!

Force requires a degree of cooperation; they'll get none from me. I have nothing to donate to their cause. If I somehow survive a battle, it'll cost them $30k per year to take care of me. "Break the system" -

Surely these people in the House don't really expect this farce to go to completion. Surely they have just tossed out a bit of candy to their loony constituents, then when no one is looking, make big changes. Everyone in Congress surely has a speaking knowledge of the US Constitution, and if they don't, we should put a stop to that - make them swear into office by reciting it!

The legislation is fair in that respect because it does not jail people who don't buy insurance.

If you're going to continue to disseminate this myth, please back it up.
Find the language in H.R. 3962 legislating jail time and cite it:

the cons are trying to apply sections 7201 and 7203 from the IRS code to the health care bill because the IRS might be the agency in charge of collecting fines. but those sections also apply to corporations, which nnullifiies them for application to the health care bill, and thsoe sections only apply to taxs, not health care premiums.
and of course you didn't know that.

“Requiring car insurance is really protecting OTHERS”
Reply
Not really the point.
ONLY people who own and operate a motor vehicle are “Required” to have car insurance.
AND that’s only in STATES that have that law. It is not a FEDERAL law.
This bill is the equivalent of “Requiring” you to “buy” car insurance “regardless” if you own or operate a “motor vehicle”.
Note: there is NO law Requiring you to have car insurance if you drive on the “interstate”.
Someone needs to explain how the FEDERAL Government can FORCE you to buy something simply because you exist.
Obviously the car insurance analogy only works if you’re a moron, why President Obama keeps using it boggles the mind. -

NOTICE - this is not a FINE, it is a TAX!!!

From Factcheck.org
Q: Could somebody be imprisoned for not purchasing health insurance under the House health care bill?
A: Both House and Senate bills would levy a tax on persons who refuse to obtain coverage. Willfully evading that tax could result in jail time under the bill passed by the House – but not the bill approved by the Senate Finance Committee.
