Obviously we need to use a mix of both. I think school buses, post office trucks, other local delivery equipment such as UPS and Fed Ex would benefit from conversion to natural gas.
Many coal fired power utilities are designed to use either fuel, although Buffett seems to believe coal will remain viable for power generation, since nearly 25% of Burlington Northern's revenues come from transporting coal.
Natural gas IS the alternative fuel that makes sense for our needs.
