    "The Treasury Department has 261.5 million ounces of gold in its reserves, representing about a third of the gold stockpiles held by governments around the world. With gold selling at about $1,100 an ounce, that means Uncle Sam is sitting on $288 billion worth of the shiny stuff."

      Good for us ...but that only financed about 3 years in iraq

      maybe enough to pull AIG out of hock but not morgan stanley

      nice to know we have a few additional assets but we'll now just spend it in Afghanistan.

        We need to come up with more. I was once told that our federal reserves sold off all our gold. Is that true?
