What a surprise — that someone who shouts “Allahu Akbar” (the “God is great” jihadist battle cry) as he is shooting up a room of American soldiers might have Islamist motives.
I don't know much about the Muslim religion and am curious if the “God is great” quote is used at other times in their religion.
I was raised with Christian beliefs and although I have never had to kill a person I have killed many other things and every time that I do kill something I do offer up a silent prayer, some people would ask why and my answer would be that I consider all life important and a gift from God, so I guess I'm just asking to be forgiven for what I am about to do. Do we ever as Christian pray before going into battle, do we ask to be protected and do we ask for forgiveness. I wonder if at times when a Christian does something really horrible do they ever say aloud Father Forgive Me, and would we consider this person a religious extremist.
I don't know what was going though this mans mind and neither does anyone else but I do consider it a mistake to focus on religion until we do know, unless you truly are hoping for a Holy War and if you are, then we all become losers.

canadianrancher, offering up a "silent prayer" for swatting a fly is not even relatable to shouting allahu akbar! before opening fire on defenseless fellow humans.

You may want to ask a Buddhist, Sikh or Jain.

Or do you really claim to know what was going on in the mind of this individual and what may or may not have been going on between him and his God?
