Gone Rogue »
Posted By Eagle_Eye 2 weeks, 5 days ago in Political NewsModerate Republicans—yes, they are not yet extinct, though most are in hiding—scoff at Sarah Palin and wish she would go away. But she's not going away. This week she's going on-air with Barbara Walters and Oprah Winfrey to flog her new book, Going Rogue: An American Life, and to promote her brand of in-your-face, power-to-the-people conservatism. President Obama is no doubt happy to have her out there on full display. He cannot help but relish the prospect, no longer farfetched, that the Republicans will nominate Palin to oppose his reelection in 2012. A student of history, Obama could be thinking of his predecessor in presidential coolness, John F. Kennedy. In 1963 Kennedy's advisers counseled against giving Sen. Barry Goldwater national stature by posing with the GOP's conservative insurgent at a White House photo op. "What are you giving that SOB all that publicity for?" demanded White House aide Kenny O'Donnell. "Leave him alone," JFK replied. "He's mine."

What scares me most is that this is currently the most ordered book on Borders.com and has consistently been within the top 10 of Amazon… statistics like that always give me a bit of a scare. You keep hoping for a kinder, brighter future, and then a gun-totting maniac woman like Palin publishes a book and makes a few million off it (she was pre-paid $5 million) and it throws your whole “The Universe is a Kind and Just Place” theory outta whack. http://www.magme.com/blog/2009/11/palin-is-publish...

All of the right wing organizations and evangelical churches pre-order huge amounts of right wing books all the time...driving them to the best seller list. Not very many people are actually buying and reading the crap coming out of the GOP these days. I would imagine there are church basements FULL of Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, etc missals.

Catholic schools in the U.S. actually gave away movie tickets to Mel Gibson's Christian-themed movie to drive up its ratings. I actually attended this s-l-o-w movie courtesy of a Catholic friend (and the church!). Of course, I heard some schools also showed Gore's green movie (which I haven't seen, since no one would buy me a ticket!--I'll catch it later, I'm sure).

I'm always watching all sides, whether I agree with them or not. I just want to know what they are up to.

>>I'll bet she wouldn't even support income redistribution

But you are SO wrong. She's already supported the policies of Ronald Reagan and TWO Bush's who - & get this - redistributed income by CONCENTRATING it in the hands / pockets of a few.
So if you want 90% of your money going to the wealthiest 1%-5% in this country that actually do the least amount of real work, then go ahead & support Palin.
On Cap & TRADE, there's a 10-State group that actually uses Cap-&-Trade of which MD is one. According to its findings, C is actually making money.
& if you don't want everyone to have access to healthcare, well that just says a lot about you.
As to the stim, with the GDP growing at its largest in what - 18 months; 1st time job claims the lowest in a year; & co's actually saying they are moving towards hiring... If you don't think the stim's STARTING to work, you're being ignorant or blind. -

god given mental manna from the deep pool of evolutionary strata. Get a grip. You propose that the mental midget that is currently embedded in the White house comes from elitist stripes of the gifted? Your guy can barely put two thoughts together without the frog clicker going off for his impetuous assumptions that honey drips from his tongue as he reads his prepared, and written for him scripts in between each of his "ah" and "er". After fifteen of them in two minutes I just simply tune the guy out. He needs a "Toastmaster's" coach. Not all conservatives spend our time making excuses for illiteracy in speech art light weights like Liberals do. At least I can listen to Palin without the "brain-voids" that interrupt each sentence with an "ah" or an "er".
