The military spending of the US is almost equal as the spending of the whole world's militrary spending put together.
It is higher than the spending of the richest and the other most important countries (West Europe, Russia, China) put together.

President Eisenhower (previous General in command of Allied forces in Europe) upon leaving the office of President of the US, warned the Americans that they were in danger of loosing their democracy because of the growing power of the military establishments and military industry.
As an retired general, and retiring president, I think he knew what he was talking about....

  There is the red herring that ignores what I wrote. Ignore the fact that Obama is spending us into the poorhouse and makes the military budget look like small change.
  
  year 2008 military budget was 613 billion. Obama has over a1.4 trillion in deficit spending. He spent more than that with his fake and failed stimulus package. He promised that it would keep the unemployment from reaching 8% by 2010 and it is now 10.2% and growing. He tried to claim 1 million jubs created and immediately the news agencies investigated and found it was a pack of lies. The real job creation is in the neighborhood of 30,000. that comes from the real statistics that were generated by each state.
  
  Try to respond to what is said instead of changing the subject. I challenged what is bankrupting the country and you just ranted about the military budget in contrast to other countries. But you ignore that the US is a much bigger country than most of the rest and the fact that Obama is doing the Democrat favorite thing of spending money we do not have. This boondoggle of a health care rework is a good example. 2.5 trillion over 10 ears while trying to fabricate the idea that it is revenue neutral. That is done by having huge taxes on the insurance companies start immediately while the rest of the bill starts in 2014. Thus making the spending look much smaller than it is. 10 years of taxes against 5 years of spending.
