Oh yeah, lets just continue to ignore that these people want to kill us all but let's make sure they don't get their feelings hurt, of course. Is there something extremely wrong with Napolitiano or is the stupid look on her face just acting?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with appointing a devout Muslim to any position in the US Government, just as there is nothing wrong with appointing a devout Jew, devout Buddhist, devout Christian, devout Atheist, devout Hindu, et cetera.

If you look at history, people are killed within their own religion in wars. The massive toll of Christian/Christian deaths in how many wars that go back how far into history? I mean really wolfie, how can you trust any Christian if you use that standard?
Is it not possible to actually step back and accept the fact that within all religions, there are the few that go way overboard and kill?
Should we ignore evidence? No!
Should we ignore someone of any faith that commits mass murder (or even a single one) in the name of their religion? No!
But to condemn every last person associated within that religion as you are doing is what contributes these things to happen over and over again IMO.
You see, the Muslims that you fear that have carried out Killings think pretty much the same way about you that you do them.
They think since some Christian did something egregious against them, their faith, or country that All Christians are the same and deserve to be retaliated against.
Does this attitude stop violence or does it perpetuate it? Can’t you how this breeds a never ending circle of violence? -

Yeah except not all devout Muslims are terrorists.

I guess all devout Christians are anti-gay anti-choice anti-government sociopaths who try to blow up buildings and create suicide cults...right? Because it's the same thing...right, right Wolfy? -

I'm sure there are many devout Christians in the US who are just as great a threat as any devout Muslim.

I don't know whether Timothy McVeigh was a devout Christian or not, but he and his cohorts did quite a bit of damage in Oklahoma City for a couple of white boys, don't you think?

Devout Muslim Arif Alikhan was appointed to Assistant Secretary for Policy Development at DHS. Before his appointment, Alikhan was Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles – in charge of public safety for the city – a position he held since 2006.
In 2007, Alikhan was instrumental in removing the Muslim terror tracking plan in Los Angeles.
Also appointed was devout Muslim Kareem Shora, who was born in Damascus, Syria. Shora is now a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).
His appointment was loudly applauded by the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC).
Shora joined ADC in 2000 as legal council and is a vocal advocate for Muslim civil rights.
The ADC reportedly has close ties to anti-Israel professor Rashid Khalidi.

O.K. I think it is now time to accept the fact that either this administration is bonkers crazy or usurpers or disloyal to the USA and decent people everywhere. -

How does anyone know that they are devout Muslims? Is it because they have beard or they pray five times a day or look like good Muslims? Most of the average Muslims do all these basic things and grow beard and they look devout but they are not really devout. The devout Muslims are the ones who enjoin what is right and forbid what s wrong. If they are really preventing crimes and enforcing security and other necessary action to make sure that the people feel safe then they are really devout but not because they are doing what every other Muslims do.

How does one know if anyone is a truly devout religious person?
Reply
Lip service means nothing without action. Dressing a certain way means nothing. Uttering prayer without the proper conviction or under the wrong pretense or seeking the wrong outcome has no meaning.
I’d imagine that those that actually commit murder in the name of religion are certainly ‘committed’ but they are not adhering to the primus of that religions laws or ideology, but have twisted and bastardized those ideals to their own device.

Sorry, but this article headline is about as un-exciting as if it said "...devout Christian". If the article documented something about the terrorist activities of this pair it would certainly be reason for concern. However, knowing about Zero as we do, perhaps there will be more floating to the surface. Stay tuned.

I could see the US using Muslims to infiltrate terrorist cells (they will more than likely be able to blend in with the culture and the community).

However, as we get more Muslims into our government, we may eventually become a country run by Islamic law. It's an intelligent way to win a war without actually fighting. Something we could never do in their own country, mainly because we are more accepting.
Take a look at Hamtrammck, MI. It was once the center of polish culture and community and now, they have Islamic prayers over the loud speakers a few times a day and more mosques than you can count on one hand.
It's a side effect of not only accepting other people's culture (which isn't a bad thing), but not caring about one's own.-

Stop your fearmongering.

Take a look at pretty much any part of the country over-run by extremist evangelical Christian churches who say it's okay to murder a doctor in cold blood.

I care about my culture. You should care about your own. Embrace it. But you don't have the right to deny someone else their culture, assuming that culture falls within US law. -

I'm very confident that these two were properly vetted for their positions and pose no threat to America. In fact, to understand Muslims and their culture is a good thing. Knowledge is power and ignorance isn't bliss but stupidity.

There is absolutely no problem with devout Muslims (or any religion) in the government.
Reply
In fact, it’s a good thing in the end. However, the government must avoid placing any individual that has ‘extremist’ views (as in, they are willing to kill others in the name of their religions). Like bombing abortion clinics, killing gays, killing minorities for being ‘minorities’, Jihad against ‘infidels’, killing Muslims, Christians, Jews, or any other religion just because they belong to that faith.
Most Muslims, Christians and those in other religions are good decent people just trying to live their lives. The few that hijack their religions and use religion to wreck havoc by killing innocents that don’t conform to their twisted idea of said religion are the ones that we should deal with.
Law abiding people should be left alone and not prejudged simply by which religion they belong to.
If these people are law abiding, patriotic, willing to defend our country against foreign or domestic threats and are qualified, this story is a non-issue IMO.-

...and you know that Slate falsely believes inside that this war is really against muslims. That's what his CON brethren believe. He's just being courteous to serve his own point. It's like Jesse Helms saying that all people are Gods children, except God loves white more.

Why don't you talk about the intelligence agencies Slate? How about them using religious fanaticism to influence an attack on America? Do you think they might be capable of that?
Yeh, terrorists flew the planes, but Bush never found Bin Laden. Maybe Bin Laden would tell people how he came up with the idea and who helped it happen. -

slate, I have developed great respect for you here on Propeller, but I definitely disagree with you here. We never know if a person is devout in ANY religion, and we seldom know a person is a traitor or a killer until he has already done the deed. Rabid muslims have been killing Americans for some years now and have openly stated they want us under their law. No one knows which is a rabid radical until he demonstrates that. The PC experiment we play with is bearable during times of peace and harmony, but deadly during times like these. I don't ever expect to be mugged by a crack-head, but that doesn't mean I readily offer him a ride. These people have proven over and over they are good at subterfuge.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Federal Law prohibit religious discrimination in hiring for Federal jobs. If these people can pass a background check and recieve a security clearance as required for the posistion then I am confident that the vast majority of them are loyal. Occassionally white Christians who have clearances have been discovered to betray this country as well.

This administration really knows how to make itself look at its worst. Most devout muslims are good, hard-working people. That does'nt change the fact that a devout muslim just committed the worst terrist act since 9/11. Can this PC attitude go any farther left?
