The city of Charleston, South Carolina has passed two ordinances prohibiting housing and employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender expression, according to The Advocate.

      It's encouraging to see South Carolina taking baby steps in its lawmaking. As a person born and raised there, I can tell you there are a lot of gay and gay-friendly people living in South Carolina. Frankly though, even if the gay marriage ban was lifted (which is unlikely, I know), I don't think a lot of long-time gay couples would flock to the courthouse to get married. They are comfortable living just the way they are.
